PRINCESS DRAGONMOM) HISTORY PRINCESS DRAGONMOM began in 1993 in Livonia, Michigan. Started as an electronic three-piece jamming noise unit, PDM quickly evolved into performance-based loud volume concept act. Various friends helped perform YOUR BIRTHDAY where audience members were given gifts by a huge, noisey cupcake, THE HAUNTED TUBE where visitors crawled through a maze of loud, horrible sounds while being scared by monsters and violence, UFO DOCTOR: "The doctor is trying to help this alien, but he's already dead", IN THE DEEP: the icy struggle of a whale in the deep sea, and many others including the annual NOISE CAMP (now in it's 9th year). PDM has performed in Galleries, Museums and nightclubs in USA, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Japan. Using everyday, household items and harsh electronic sound, PDM transforms any space into a surreal and wonderful playground for all ages. Current members: Davin Brainard, Warn Defever, Ronald Cornelissen, Dion Fischer, Erika Hoffmann, Jeremy Kallio, MOG.
PDM NOTES by KOJI TANOPDM-Princess Dragonmom and their independent lable TIME STEREO in Detroit Michigan are the most interet group in noise/avantgrade music scene now. And they will be the most important key person in scene from now. A innocent illustration like child drawing, a mixture of several styles:Noise, Avantgarde, Ambient, Techno and Rock. Their cassettes/records are enjoyable and interesting. Their image is quite different from anti-social image of Noise by now. (But group that have anti-social image is a few now.) Anyway, PDM has cheerful image. And It's a natural and straight sense. Detroit is a city where Stooges and MC5 these real great psychedelic bands were born. And There is also a city where DAM-Destroy All Monsters that realized coming to Japan in '96 was born. Actually, PDM and DAM have good friendship, and a cassette of live materials in '70 by DAM is released from TIME STEREO. PDM may get a big infulence from DAM so we can call PDM the noisy/punkish Kids of the great psyche Daddy DAM.Well, the most charming point of PDM is its sound & art work like " GOMA chan has done MERZBOW ". (GOMA chan is charmy animal charcter in Japanese comic "Syonen Ashibe") Like I have written on begining of this report, innocent & cute illustration works by DAVN: a leader of PDM, driving harsh noise works in PDM, cheap & low-fai electro works in another project LITTLE PRINCESS. And their live performance in videos from TIME STEREO "TIME MACHINE" and "UFO DOCTOR" is great very much. A collaborative live with a magician Dragon uncle who throw out big fire from a mouth. SF noise performance live that simulate dissection of alien in cheap & comic like movie by Ed Wood. And, Wrestle Noise live, a mixture of wrestling by Mexican Wrestlers and live erectornics harsh by Ultraman. (Of course, Mexican Wrestlers and Ultraman are by member of PDM & TIME STEREO) These performances are very enjoyable and you can have a fun vey much. It's noise entertainment show!!! Also, in Haloween's Eve, they done noise installation "HAUNTED TUBE" that a haunted house and noise are mixed. They who are widely doing activities except making sounds are the most amazing group now. HAUNTED TUBE
